About the Manufactured Housing Industry

We at Mountain View Estates believe that since the beginning of our business, we should set the bar high and be one of the leaders of our communities in our type of business. We have maintained this level of excellence and now have expanded our business with the sales of a quality built home by Palm Harbor Homes.

Today, our competition is not other manufactured homes, but site built homes. For that reason we have chosen a manufacturer of homes that can produce a home that is at least comparable if not better than a site built home to offer to our residents. Better built and affordable. That is what we offer at Mountain View Estates.

How many of us would feel comfortable picking up our current site built home or apartment, setting it on a metal frame and running down the freeway at 65 mph? Would your home be in shape to live in? How would the plumbing and walls be? Would it leak?

Federal and State Governments have set strict guidelines as to how homes must be built. Many inspections are done as the homes are assembled. Test after test is performed on the home before it leaves the factory.

Having a home built in a factory bothers some people. They think that if a home is not built out in the weather, sitting in the rain, exposed to the elements, that they cannot have a quality home. I would say that everything we own today has probably came from a factory. How can a home be considered inferior because it's built in a controlled environment where it never gets rained on, or where the material doesn't sit there exposed to the elements? Material and components that are cut with computer technology with less waste and error is what makes for a quality built home, isn't it?

There is a myth that the products incorporated in the building of these homes we offer are cheap, substandard material. The material used is the same material every site built builder uses, but the difference is that the Palm Harbor factory buys the same material in bulk. Carpet, wiring, lumber, paint, electrical fixtures, siding, roofing, etc. is bought by the train or truck loads in bulk. For example, I might have to pay $1.00 for a 2x4, they can buy the same lumber for 50 cents. Not cheaper material, just the same material at a cheaper price.

On an assembly line, their electrician and plumbers and painters and carpet layers show up every day, know exactly what they are doing, producing less waste, and all working in an efficient manner to produce not a cheaper house, but an affordable quality built home for the consumer.

They are so confident in their product that Palm Harbor offers each buyer a 5 year warranty. Is this true with the site built contractor?

An affordable quality built product from Palm Harbor, in a great community, this is what Mountain View Estates is all about.
